The Church of the Ascension was the Church of Thomas Fitch Rowland, the owner
of Continental Iron Works who built the USS Monitor. Funds Mr. Rowland
obtained from the construction of the USS Monitor and other Monitor Class vessels
were used to build this Church.

THANK YOU Karen Olszewski, Museum Treasurer, for assisting with the
development of the Road Show, your work with the party preparations, and
your beautiful singing at the party.

THANK YOU Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Oliver Tilden Camp No. 26,
Sons of Veterans Reserve, 83rd New York Vols., Company I (9th NYS Militia),
and special thanks to Arthur Kirmms, John Portanova (Camp Commander) and
George J. Weinmann (Past Camp Commander and Museum Corresponding
Secretary)
. Arthur, John and George made the Road Show come alive
with Arthur's musical talent and Civil War artifacts, John's uniforms and
George's Civil War artifacts and accounts of his ancestors experiences
during the Civil War. The songs of Arthur and Karen always fill
the Church of the Ascension with the emotions of the men and
women who sacrificed so much for this country.

for Party preparations.

THANK YOU Janice Lauletta-Weinmann, Museum President and
Vice President of the John Ericsson Society of New York, for sharing
with the Road Show students the story of John Ericsson, and the
stories of women and mascots of the Civil War. Thanks also for
your work in preparing for the Road Show Party.
