(103kb) The Confederates from the South cut off the sails of the USS Merrimac a Union ship and converted her into an ironclad. They renamed the USS Merrimac the CSS Virginia. The Confederates were using her to defeat the US Navy's wooden ships. (102kb)
This was once the top of a Civil War flagpole. It was in many battles with Ellsworth's Fire Zouaves. George is wearing a Hawkins Zouave Uniform. (108kb) Old Abe was a Civil War mascot. He was in 37 battles. (93kb) John is recruiting troops from John Ericsson. (99kb) jhs1260405h.jpg (115kb)
