Presented At:

Brooklyn, New York 11222
Mr. James
Horne with 8th Grade Class,
Arthur, George & Janice
George
dressed in a reproduction 9th New York Hawkins' Zouave
uniform. This was the uniform worn by his great great grandfather,
Charles F. Weinmann, who fought with the Hawkins' Zouaves.
Janice compares the similarities of her 9th NY Hawkins' Zouave
Vivandiere uniform to that of George's ancestor.
Janice spoke of the famous Vivandiere Marie Tebe known as
"French
Mary". Marie was a French immigrant who accompanied
her husband as a member of the 27th Pennsylvania Volunteers and later
with the 114th Pennsylvania, known as Collis' Zouaves d'Afrique.
She received the "Kearny Cross" for heroism.
