Old Abe, the eagle, is another mascot. She was in 37 battles. Yes Old Abe was really a girl bird. After the Civil War the veterans took her to parades. They collected money for the children who lost their fathers during the Civil War. When the ladies found out that Old Abe was really a girl bird, they took Old Abe to parades to win women's rights.
