ST. CECILIA SCHOOL Old Abe was a Civil War mascot. She was in 37 Battles. After the war the Civil War veterans took Old Abe to parades to raise money for the orphan children whose fathers died during the war. After the war, it was discovered that Old Abe was really a girl bird.
